A charming Victorian gold cased* Mizpah locket featuring a beautifully enamelled front.
The enamel panel reads 'Mizpah', a Hebrew phrase that means watch tower which was loosely interpreted during the Victorian era to the popular phrase 'May God Watch Over You'. The word is framed by floral detailing on a vibrant blue background.
The locket opens to reveal a photo of a distinguished gentleman. I always like to keep lockets 'as found' inside but the photo can be removed and cleaned up if preferred.
The locket fastens securely and features a split bale top.
There is a small patch of wear to the blue enamel panel which can be seen in picture five. The locket remains in good antique condition overall.
